My English course 125

The English 125 course was very exciting. Most of the students were weak writers at the beginning, but later on during the term practices, they became better and their writing improved with higher scores. There was also the blogs process. It is a site where the class students are members with the teacher as well. They can also post their required writing and comment each other as groups to correct the mistakes they’ve done.

The teacher used to keep the students practicing in writing throughout blogs and portfolio. The vocabulary and grammar practice made me good in writing. In addition to the process writing which strength me in passive verbs and how to use it in proper way.

The most challenging writing portion in this course is contrast and compare. It is better to keep practice because it has many vocabulary and sentences that gets the score high. I helped myself during this course by Hct – HD site which provides the students with all assistant they need.

I can asses my performance in this course as good, but I hope that I can join an English course in summer. I want to achieve to an excellent level of writing that helps me to pass ILETS exam easily.

Fast food and home cooked meals

People sometimes prefer fast food rather than home cooked meals and that is depending on the different principles. I am going to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between the fast food and home cooked meals.

There are some similarities between the two. First similarity is that they both provide a delicious and variety kinds of meals. Fast food is very popular all over the world because they afford salads, shawarma, burgers and more which are can be cooked at home. One more similarity is that they approximatly cost the same price.

Although there are many of similarities, there are also several differences between fast and home cooked meals. The first difference is that some fast food restaurants are not clean and the staffs are untidy but, home cooked meals are clean. Another important difference is that fast food providers usually don’t follow the process of using the oil and provide the meals full with oil in contrast to home cooked meals which aren’t. Another difference is that fast food is ready made and always available whereas home cooked meals are not which take a reasonable time to finish.

We can see that fast food and home cooked meals are similar in many ways but very differences in other. I prefer home cooked meals because it is clean and trustable but sometime I need to get some fast food if I am outside home rather than starving.

There are some specific similarities between the two. The first similarity is that they both are modern and developed of living facilities. Each city has organized roads which provide the security for your family and to not wasting time in rush hour. Another important similarity that is both cities have government and private job vacancies which gives high salaries to the employees so that they can live in a good accommodation and reasonable life level.

Although there are many similarities, there are also several differences. The first difference is that the accommodation rent price is more expensive whereas in Abu Dhabi is cheap. The most of residents people in Dubai are foreigners while in Abu Dhabi are nationals.

Popcorn

Popcorn is something you often eat when you watch a movie at a cinema. It is very easy to make perfect popcorn if you follow the correct process. I will outline it below.

The first step is that three tablespoons of oil is put in a large pot. Next, the pot is placed on the stove and the oil is heated on a high flame. Next, one kernel of popcorn is added after this kernel pops, a quarter cup of popcorn is put into the pot. The pot is covered with a lid.
In the next stage, the flame is redced and the pot is gently shaken until the corn pops. Then the pot is removed from the stove, which is turned off. Finally, the popcorn is emptied into a large bowl, where melted butter and salt is added

In summary, making popcorn is very easy if you follow the steps above. Enjoy your movie and your popcorn!

How letters are sorted in UK

Sending letters became a very popular all over the world. It is a good way for people to communicate with each other. In the past, it was very hard and complicated because it was taking a long time to be delivered. I’m going to mention the process of how letters are sorted in UK.

First, letters are collected from post boxes in bags. Second, they are taken to sorting office. Third, the letters are put through machines so that the stamps can be cancelled. Forth, letters are sorted by district. Fifth, the sorting of the letters takes place, according to the county they are addressed to. This is done by placing them in the appropriate pigeon hole. Sixth, the letters are tied in dandles. Seventh, the letters are sent to the given correct town. Finally, letters are delivered to the required address.

In conclusion, sorting letters is a not an easy job because the employers must be careful so that they don’t deliver the letters to the wrong address. A process I’ve mentioned above of how the letters are sorted in UK is the perfect and successful way.

Ramadan

Last Ramadan was a very special one for me, I had decided to go to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. All my friends have been telling me how enjoyable it is, which made me even more excited to experience that feeling. However, I was very keen to be there during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

My flight was on the 24th of Ramadan, immediately after Iftar. I was very excited to go that I forgot my ticket at home, nevertheless I only realized when I reached the airport. Lucky enough, I had the online ticket number with me and it was easy to access the ticket from the counter. My journey started and I had such a pleasant feeling that I have never had before. Despite the fact that I was very tired, I still took the effort to go to a far away mosque for Taraweeh prayers.

I had an overwhelming experience, and I am sure that I would do it again sometime.

The Hajj Process

The Hajj is central feature of Islam and the duty of every capable Muslim to perform this ritual at least once in their life. The pilgrim changes into Ihram in the prescribed manner and proceeds to Mina soon after the Fajr Prayers. The distinctive dress of the male pilgrim worn during Hajj or Umrah. It consists of two pieces of white, un-sewn and plain cloth. For ladies, their ordinary and modest clothes of everyday wear constitute their Ihram.
The dedicate act of walking seven times between the Safa and Marwah. The pilgrims repeat the following words: Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik. Labbaik La Sharika Laka Labbaik. Innal-Hamda, Wan-Ni'mata Laka wal-Mulk. La Sharika Lak.
The Pilgrim goes to Mina anytime after Fajr prayer but before the afternoon time. However, the 4 Rak'ahs prayers must be shortened to 2 but must not be combined together. The pilgrim must stay overnight in Mina, perform the Fajr prayer and leave after sunrise. After leaving Mina, the pilgrim heads towards Arafah through Muzdalifah, the desert location between Mina and Arafah.
Thereafter, the pilgrim walks to the nearby hills, and collects about 70 pea-size pebbles for throwing, preferably before midday. Stoning the pillar symbolizes stoning the devil; the pebbles must touch the inside of the Jamrat's fence. The pilgrim stones the first Jamrah, then the Middle, and finally the Big one in the same following order, after midday on all three days.
The pilgrim may now shave/trim the hair, shower, to perform Tawaf al-Ifadah after taking off the Ihram and changing into everyday clothes and before returning to Mina for pebble throwing.
After completing the prayer at Maqam Ibrahim, the pilgrim may visit Zamzam area and hence drink from the water.
Nevertheless, the minimum stay in Mina should exceed most of the night, otherwise, the pilgrim is required to make a sacrifice. The pilgrim may return to Makkah after throwing pebbles on the 12th of Thul-Hijjah to perform Tawaf al-Wada. The pilgrim should stay in Mina minimum from Fajr until Midnight. Furthermore, the pilgrim may return to Makkah after throwing pebbles on the 12th of Thul-Hijjah to perform Tawaf al-Wada. This completes the Hajj journey.
The pilgrim also asks Allah to accept the rituals and promises to follow the divine commands. The yearly event is a major concern for the Saudi government. Saudi authorities must take precautions to prevent disasters such as plague and disease. However with careful planning, the event is a major success for most.

How to fail in your portfolio

There are many students having problems in how they do the portfolios in a proper way. The steps and instructions were giving clearly at the beginning of the semester so they should not create an excuse. There are many reasons that make the students fail their portfolio.

Firstly, there is no evidence of the identity of the student or the contents of the binder on the spine or front cover of the binder. Secondly, no thought has been given to the appearance of the binder and it looks completely untidy. In addition, the font size and color are not professional. Moreover, there is no contents page to help the user and it’s not ordered in any particular way so that makes it hard and complicated for the user to read. Another important reason that makes the students to fail in the portfolio is that the contents show no evidence of care and the material is not edited correctly. Finally, and that’s what worse of all the students always should ask to clarify the steps and delay the deadline of handling the portfolio.

In conclusion, the portfolio is very easy but the reasons which I have mentioned above make the student get failed in this course.
